Basic Outline

  • 5 islands connected with paths
  • Jump-able
  • Focus on low-end clients (see materials)
  • Low orbit for map and bones
  • No fly, angry mobs, radiation, PvP.
  • Lots of space, we have faster movement at spawn. Keep Buildings visible.
  • Spawn connects to places that show and teach, keep text minimal.

Telemosaics

  • Right-click on mosaics to travel. That way we avoid both travel-loops and server-steps.
  • From time to time cycle some to feature places of currently active users.

Travelnets

Currently anybody can add networks and stations to users shared and korlen

Materials

  • avoid nodes that
    • animate
    • have inventories
    • are owned
  • no cognitive overload
  • avoid doors
  • avoid multiple floors (hmm, we broke that rule)
  • use only nodes and mechanisms all other players can use

Islands

"Earth" island

  • Space for about 30 teleporters
  • Teleporter "priorities":
    • Old places: farther behind
    • New/Hot places: more in the front
  • Only names of places on signs. Leave first line empty. Use same colour for font on all signs. Use signs with white border.
  • Careful when adding/removeing anything. Light values have been carefully kept high enough to avoid ents from spawning on leaves and spiders on rainforest litter and snow.


"Space" island

  • Four XP related zones:
    • Low Earth Orbit
    • Moon
    • Asteroids
    • Mars

(War-zone obviously not required)


"Shop" island

  • korlen's shopping network
  • admin ore exchange on lower floor


"Tutorial" island

  • Existing tutorials are linked with telemosaics
  • Four tutorial teleporter networks
  • Some prominent tele-mosaics can be rotated
  • Please don't use posters here. Let the tutorials speak for themselves. Books are fine for "How to use" and similar.

In case the whole build should be jumped, pay attention to grab vendors whole and especially make sure sand and other falling nodes have a solid layer underneath.
