It is located under a mostly-unoccupied desert within 6000 nodes of the centre of the world.

Once upon a time, [[User:a| user a]] tried to make a personal lava flan farm, which he built on the surface of a desert. However, when [[User:6r1d|6r1d]] came to review it, 6r1d pointed out that it had to be below Y = 0.

So [[User:a| user a]] ran a 9x9 shallow underground quarry in that desert to make room for the lava flan farm. [[User:a| User a]] rebuilt the lava flan farm in this space, and it worked (although very slowly).

While digging out some space around it, [[User:a| user a]] decided to also try to make a beacon-beam factory at the opposite end of a hallway. At the midpoint of the hallway, he also added a room with some machines to automatically farm tomatoes. After this, he just ended up making several other rooms for several other public resources, and it grew into PUW.

Hello, this is 6r1d. If you are looking for a location with a certain goal in mind, you are in the right place.
I'd like to make this index as an alternative to ¨[[Popular_places]]¨ article.
(This one is a work in progress, so I won't connect it to other pages yet.)

== Making your house ==

First thing to remember is to respect other player's borders and ask for permission if you are building nearby. If you are building too close to your neighboor, it'll limit both of you. Don't forget to connect roads if there are any.

You want to start your first house on Earth, a bit away from other places to place different machines, which will help you craft things. For now, type "/spawn" and look at Earth teleporters there.

Before you start, ask yourself these questions:

* "What experience do you have?"
* "What do you want to do?"

Have you played on other servers? Have you made something with Mesecons or Technic mods before? If yes, you might want to visit Technic City or HiFi city: you can find experienced players and nice machines there.

With Technic City, you can just look around for a nice place and start nearby. The bonus is free nuclear energy for everyone.

With HiFi City, please ask korlen about building nearby: city has a certain style everyone should keep in mind. It is built far away from everything else for a reason.

If it's a first server you are playing at, look at Starter Town, New Town, Fruitland. You can walk a bit, find an unprotected place and start there.

Because Starter Town was advertised as "a great place to start your adventure," many newbs went there and set up a house. This means you will need to walk away for quite a while before you get to open space.

The commonwealth hotel is also a good place for newbs.

'''Public Underground Workspace''', often acronymized as '''PUW''', is a network of underground rooms primarily built by [[User:a| user a]], with some contributions from others.

In accordance with the first word of its name, PUW's main purpose is to provide public services and resource generation.

It is located under a mostly-unoccupied desert within 6000 nodes of the centre of the world.

== History ==

Once upon a time, [[User:a| user a]] tried to make a personal lava flan farm, which he built on the surface of a desert. However, when [[User:6r1d|6r1d]] came to review it, 6r1d pointed out that it had to be below Y = 0.

So [[User:a| user a]] ran a 9x9 shallow underground quarry in that desert to make room for the lava flan farm. [[User:a| User a]] rebuilt the lava flan farm in this space, and it worked (although very slowly).

While digging out some space around it, [[User:a| user a]] decided to also try to make a beacon-beam factory at the opposite end of a hallway. At the midpoint of the hallway, he also added a room with some machines to automatically farm tomatoes. After this, he just ended up making several other rooms for several other public resources, and it grew into PUW.

== How it Works ==
A jumpdrive ship using ScoutShipSeparate will have a large main structure and a smaller section in the center (originally 3x3x3, but it could be bigger, as long as it is smaller than the main structure) that has enough functionality to jump safely on its own, but not much more. The user could then decrease the jumpdrive radius so that it only includes this center section, then jump this center section to an unfamiliar area to scout ahead. After they have found a suitable place to land with enough room for the entire ship, they then jump the smaller scout ship back inside the main ship, then increase the radius and jump the entire structure.
